Happy Birthday Grandpa Efer

It's been a while since I've posted to the blog (sorry), but this post has lots of pictures! Last weekend we went to Mohonk to celebrate Grandpa Efer's 70th Birthday. Almost the whole family was there, which was a treat for me since I really don't know my brothers and their families at all. We arrived atop the mountain Friday afternoon after a long, rain- and traffic-filled drive (good work Dada!), just as the sun was peaking through the clouds revealing the gorgeous foliage. After some tea we hit the (somewhat nippy) fresh air. Sorin saw some horses, pet a frog, picked up lots of gravel, fed the fishies, and just ran around. We then congregated for a late dinner (Mum didn't quite get to eat her entree before Sorin crashed), and despite the schedule disruption Sorin was so good-natured. The next day we enjoyed a hike around the lake, a delicious lunch, a much-needed nap, and then a somewhat strenuous hike up the mountain through the labrynth. Here is a picture of Sorin on Thadeous' back. He enjoyed the climb, for the most part, except for the bits that required Thadeous to shimmy through some tight spaces.



After some more fish feeding we all got together to toast the guest of honor. Here is a picture of Sorin with Grandpa Efer, and with all his cousins. He quickly warmed up to the girls, especially Emma (with Sorin).



At the end of yet another huge (and late, for Sorin) meal, the little guy was still in great humor. Dada found a balloon, which was great fun to toss back and forth with cousin Ian.


On Sunday we all enjoyed another jaunt around the lake, a delicious lunch, and then we drove (uneventfully) back home. It was a great weekend!
