Today is Halloween! Sorin dressed up as a bug this year (thank you Nonna!). He actually dressed up several times. The first (with the striped pajama pants and flashlight, a favorite toy) was a dress rehearsal. I've heard from other parents of toddlers that costumes aren't always donned willingly, so we thought we'd test the waters. Sorin had no problem with morphing into a bug and seemed to like the extra appendages. The second metamorphosis was for a trip to Grand Central Station. On Sunday there were Halloween festivities there, and we thought it would be fun for Sorin see. It was more geared to the pre-school and up set, but I think he enjoyed the band and dancing pumpkin sculptures. Some of the other costumes were a bit too scary, though. And finally today Sorin dressed up to go trick-or-treating! His friend Gray and his family and Aunt Nicole accompanied us as we "knock knock" -ed on doors (picture very light tapping:). Gray is a bit older and could say "trick or treat!", but Sorin was right there with his hands in the candy bowl. It's funny, we've never given him candy, but somehow he knew this was a good thing to be getting! He was a bit reluctant to put the candy in his bug bucket, but seemed content as long as he was holding on to at least one piece. After about half an hour he was pooped and we headed home with our haul. Hopefully he'll sleep well tonight (and past 5:30 am, but that's another story...)!
