Elmo demoted?

We've been spreading Christmas out a bit, giving Sorin a gift here and there. Today we gave Sorin a plush Cookie Monster (Cooka!), and it was love at first sight. A squeal of joy escaped as he clutched Cookie Monster to his chest. Sorin then put Cookie Monster in his doll stroller to take him for a walk ("Bye bye!"), and when Dada nestled Elmo along side, Sorin vigorously yanked Elmo out and tossed him to the floor. Poor Elmo! At dinner Cookie Monster also donned a bib and ate with Sorin. Afterwards his heart softened a bit, and he took them both for a walk:).


In other Sorin news, he's starting to put two word phrases together. In the morning he says, "Bye bye Dada." On Friday evening when Sorin and I were waiting for the subway (we went down to Thadeous' lab for their holiday party) he said, "Wait choo choo." It's really fun to see the cognitive devolopment--I still find myself surprised and amazed at each new stage.

I just had to throw in a couple more pictures of our little guy in action. The cognitive development recently is amazing. Sorin is using many more words, engaging in imaginitive play, and mimicing Mama and Dada. He still loves his books, too, and knows exactly what he wants to read.

Santa visit (not)

It's finally gotten chilly in New York, and Christmas is right around the corner. We thought we'd try to teach Sorin a bit about the secular aspects of the holiday. We bought a little tree, and Sorin loves to put on and take off the ornaments. He also knows Santa by site. On Sunday we went to Bloomingdales to say hi to Santa in person. Notice how there's not picture of this event. Sorin waved, but when asked if he wanted to get closer he replied with a definitive no. Maybe next year:). We did, however, get to see the tree at Rockefeller Center. There were SO many people, but that enormous and magnificent tree is truly a site. And the best part is that there was an Elmo across the street! Unfortunately Mama and Dada wanted to go home sooner than Sorin, so we had to hear plaintif "Elmo, Elmo" cries most of the way home. Such is life with a toddler.



We also had visits from two of Sorin's favorite "Aunties," Nicole and Juliet (who's expecting her own little critter soon!).
