Silly Sorin

Two is such a fun age! I know I keep saying this, but I'm continuously amazed by Sorin's cognitive and physical development. He now understands humor, and loves when we're silly--or to be silly himself. If I make a mistake (e.g. put his shoes on the wrong feet) or drop something, he'll say, "Silly Mama!" and crack up. The other morning Thadeous asked Sorin what he wanted for breakfast. Since he didn't answer we suggested a few things (waffles, cereal), then Thadeous suggested fish (leftover from the night before). Without thinking I said, "Ewww!" Sorin thought that was hilarious and repeated it. I then asked if he wanted other non-breakfast-ish things and each time he responded, "Ewww!" Until I got to chocolate. He was about to say "Ewwww!", but then stopped, gave a big smile, and said, "Yeah!!!!"

Sorin has a three-wheel scooter that he loves to ride, and he's really fast. People often comment on how stable and quick he is on it. Yesterday we took it over to campus and did some duck-watching and scooting on the nice long paths. Here he his...

...and there he goes.

Happy Father's Day

We had a busy Father's Day weekend, visiting with friends and playing, playing, playing. On Saturday morning we had brunch with Uncle Matt, Aunt Juliet, and baby Liana. On the way there Sorin kept saying, "I'm going see baby Liana!" Of course when he actully saw her he was very quiet. He did get a kick out of pushing her toy pram around the apartment (and we even sat her in for photo:). Isn't she a cutie?

We then headed downtown to New York Kid's Day at the South Street Seaport. It was, er, crowded. But Sorin got to see Bob the Builder sing and dance, and we got a quick photo op with a certain purple dinosaur. I'm not sure how Sorin knows who Barney, but he does. Oh well.

I just had to throw in this shot of Sorin enjoying some "melon melon."

On Sunday we spent the morning at John Jay park, playing in the sandbox, running through the fountain, climbing, and sliding. After a much-needed nap, Dada did some grilling and we had a picnic with Aunt Nicole. It was delicious!

Toronto weekend

Sorin and I headed up to Toronto for a quick visit so that I could attend Danielle's bridal shower (she and Heath are getting married on July 26). Sorin was a great traveller (at least for a busy 2-year-old). It's a good thing he likes to watch a variety of vehicles as that made waiting for our flights more entertaining. Sorin actually fell asleep on the way to Toronto, but alas not on the way back. After many rounds of Baa Baa Blacksheep and the ABCs and long discussion on trucks over his truck stickerbook, I received the ultimate mothering compliment when the passenger in front of us asked me if Sorin was that well-behaved all the time. (And the answer is yes, for the most part.)

Sorin had a great time playing with Oma, Opi, and Auntie Ali. There is a wonderful playground steps from their front door and Sorin took full advantage of it. Here he is having a "race" with Opi down the slide. They also ensured Sorin took full advantage of the fresh(er) air with a picnic, walks--and a trip to the icecream parlor:). What else are grandparents and Aunties for?
